Since 1978, the Markey Cancer Foundation has been putting forth massive efforts to support the Markey Cancer Center at the University of Kentucky. Because Kentucky has the highest cancer mortality rate in the nation, we are certainly a direct beneficiary of all the work the Foundation does. With already over $70 million raised, Markey continues to dedicate time to enhancing lives – lives lived, lives lost, and lives gained.
Our goals were diverse.
We wanted to capture the Foundation’s trustworthiness, perseverance, and compassion for patients, friends, and families.
The flower is a symbol of celebration and mourning – of honor. The “M” of Markey blossoms, providing quiet pause and contemplation in the mark. as a complement to this mark, we use photographs of both family and nature, all in soft lighting, that add to the tranquil, safe feeling we wanted to evoke.
Furthermore, the use of UK Blue incorporates the Foundation’s partnership with UK; while the addition of soft blue and cool grey is a continuation of the calmness evoked in the mark.
