There is an inevitable uneasiness in our process. I can only imagine what it’s like to be on the other side of the table. For some clients it’s probably akin to an episode of Hoarders. We (Bullhorn) are the hosts of the show, walking in to your space and pointing out everything that’s “wrong.” It’s difficult at times, no matter how we frame it.
“The reality is, we are here to help. It’s the reason I do what I do.”
The reality is, we are here to help. It’s the reason I do what I do. We do good work with good people. It’s a part of every decision we make throughout the process.
Our work is firmly grounded in research. Starting with immediate competition, branching out to industry landscape, and finishing with a survey of related design examples. In the first section of research, we identify patterns in aesthetic and language in your region. What is successful? What misses the mark? Next, we look at the overall landscape of your industry. In an oversaturated environment, what choices fall in with the pack and what choices will make you stand out? Finally, we run through design executions both within your field and outside – examples that coincide with the goals and tones we identify in the strategy phase. This section is an opportunity for us to suss out your gut preferences. While one look will demonstrate Sophistication, for example, it might not be true to your personality or vision for your company.
Research is a collaborative effort. In this phase, we educate ourselves about your industry, but we also educate you. It’s a responsibility we take seriously. Because our work is not an extension of our personal preferences.
“Almost a decade ago I was asked in an interview, ”What is your style?” I don't have one.”
Almost a decade ago I was asked in an interview, ”What is your style?” I don’t have one. Moment to moment, day to day, I have to shape-shift as a designer, as a thinker. I can’t let my preference get in the way of the work at hand.
So trust us. We’ve surveyed the landscape. We are trying to set you up for whatever the future of your industry, and ours, brings.
