The Chamber Music Festival is an annual event that draws a constantly changing, internationally renowned group of musicians for two weeks of incredible performances. In conjunction with this, they commission a local artist to create a piece that serves as that year’s visual theme, that festival’s icon. Because the spirit of each festival changes so radically from year to year – different cast of characters, different artistic styles – creating a visual identity that is both comprehensive and current presented a unique challenge.
We focused on a single, timeless motif: the music staff. Stripping it down to this communicates to both the musically sophisticated and a younger, newer audience. Along with the typical execution of posters, brochures, and stationery, we staged rousing outdoor installations to help launch the brand.
