Why Webflow?
Once upon a time, there was only one way to build a website. You had to know your way around HTML and a web server. There’s a lot more to know today, from building pipelines to Javascript frameworks and animations. And the internet is crowded with all-in-one website builders that promise to make it all easier. Few live up to that promise. One that gets it right is Webflow.
We use Webflow to bridge the gap between design and development — getting brands online more efficiently than ever. Its visual drag-and-drop interface resembles Figma or Photoshop, helping designers feel right at home. And it generates clean, predictable code that developers can easily extend. It’s our go-to tool for new websites and has changed how we do business.
Here’s what we love about it.
Design freedom
Website builders are notorious for design limitations. They usually provide a handful of modules and customizations but leave you writing unwieldy CSS overrides when you want to step outside that box. Webflow is different. It’s a visual wrapper for CSS and Javascript, which means you can do almost anything in Webflow that you can do in code — only faster.
Development speed
We often reach for Webflow long before final website designs are agreed upon. We use it first to prototype interactive designs, speeding up the concept and approval process. When sites are ready for development, we get to work — Webflow takes care of the project setup, development environment, and hosting. Plus, its no-code interface empowers designers to implement their own work. It helps us get websites to launch day faster and frees up billable hours for other parts of the brand launch.
Webflow CMS
A content management system — or CMS — is the central place a website operator interacts with their site after launch day. A comprehensive, easy-to-use CMS is critical to a client’s experience. Webflow CMS offers two key features. For static pages, users can edit content directly, replacing text and photos without putting the page design at risk. For dynamic content like blog posts, the CMS offers granular control in an interface familiar to anyone who has filled out an online form.
Hosting
If you’ve used a traditional website platform like WordPress or Drupal, you’re familiar with the decisions, costs, and maintenance that can come with website hosting. After committing to a provider based on their performance or pricing, you’re in charge of keeping your CMS, plugins, and server environment up to date. Webflow simplifies hosting. It requires little to no maintenance, and we’ve never run into an outage due to an out-of-date plugin or expired SSL certificate. On top of that, it’s secure, reliable, and fast, thanks to infrastructure from AWS and Fastly.
Accessibility
An effective website is accessible to everyone. When we design for the internet, we think about the user experience for people using assistive technologies, navigating by keyboard, using increased font sizes, and more. Webflow helps us get it right. It features auditing tools for key issues like color contrast, alternative text for images, and properly-structured headings that provide context for screen readers.
The internet is a vast and varied place. There aren’t one-size-fits-all solutions, and that’s a good thing. Webflow isn’t a shortcut. It doesn’t force us into homogeneous designs or substandard experiences. It’s not the right tool for every project. But it does provide a solid foundation for effective websites, built efficiently with minimal technical debt.
We care about the tools we use because every site is part of a brand strategy. It’s a commitment to our partners, a research-backed plan designed to reflect their brand’s culture and position them for growth. We trust Webflow because it helps us execute on that promise. Nothing less would be acceptable.
